Just one thing - are there any tools out there (I'm using XOOPSinfo at the moment) that allow me to work out whether Freetype is enabled?

No you can't, this library is used to handler police (write letter to image).

hey i have a sollution for your problem

its actually a kind of hack that i figured out my self...

it works like this....
go and open public-sendecard.php in the directory of your extgallery module....

find....



// Enable captcha only if GD is Used

        if($xoopsModuleConfig['graphic_lib'] == '[b]GD[/b]') {

            if (!PhpCaptcha::Validate($_POST['captcha'])) {

                redirect_header("public-photo.php?photoId=".$photoId."#photoNav", 3, _MD_EXTGALLERY_CAPTCHA_ERROR);

                exit;

replace the GD with DD

and then find...



// Enable captcha only if GD is Used

        if($xoopsModuleConfig['graphic_lib'] == '[b]GD[/b]') {

            $form->addElement(new XoopsFormText(_MD_EXTGALLERY_SECURITY, 'captcha', '10', '5', ''),false);

        }

and do the same.. replace GD with DD...

this hack will remove the captcha form inside your public-sendecard file..... so after this no more captcha..
you can send e-cards freely....
